The Aram Shelton Quartet plays creative jazz music inspired by the likes of Ornette Coleman, Eric Dolphy, Charles Mingus, and the Art Ensemble of Chicago. In this quartet, Shelton is joined by Chicagoans Keefe Jackson on tenor saxophone, Anton Hatwich on bass, and Tim Daisy on drums.

Shelton’s compositions for the group feature strong melodies and inventive forms. "Everything for Somebody", their sophomore album, features six compositions that place the players in familiar and challenging territory, with an eye towards exploring the many pairings available through solos, duos, trios and the full quartet. All four members contribute narrative solos to this album, displaying their individual styles while making a collective music that is joyful, energetic, raw and poignant.

Great, great band, The Engines...this live recording (The Green Mill, Chicago) just hits the sweet spot continuously... The playing, the improvising, the interplay, the energy and the verve just don't get better than this for me...all Ken Vandermark associates, all quality guaranteed composers. So,so pleased and gratified to see Henry's Pi Recordings on BC! He is, without exception, one of the most visionary and extraordinary composers of the 20th/21st Century, in my humble view...I have listened to him for decades (the Mosaic Box Set is an essential experience) and his current band, Zooid is very important, I think (but then, he doesn't need my approbation; I listen with old ears)...if you don't know his work then listen to anything/everything you can get your hands on...
